چکیده
The high-water content of tomato predisposes it to spoilage by bacteria and fungi that can pose significant health threats consumers. However, parameters such as environment human factors influence the rate contamination microbial species involved. Hence, present study aims determine various pathogenic associated with tomatoes sold in some markets southern Benin. A total 70 were sampled, out which 35 undamaged spoilt processed for examination bacterial standard culture technique following protocols. Results indicated samples analyzed, 85.71% are contaminated enteric bacteria. Escherichia coli was commonest contaminant. Foodborne outbreak potentials also detected analyzed samples. Fungi isolated belong genera Aspergillus, Fusarium Mucor. most identified Aspergillus ochraceus (98.91%), oxysporum (84.28%), niger (72.85%) versicolor (35.71%). presence these foodborne pathogens raises concern on public risks consumption fresh tomatoes. Efforts should be made advise farmers avoid use wastewater irrigation during cultivation, discourage purchasing

Worm castings-based growing media with biochar and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi for producing organic tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) in greenhouse.
Organic vegetable production has specific research and innovation requirements which are not shared by other parts of the food and farming sector. A pot experiment was conducted to investigate the interactive effects of few permitted organic inputs such as arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, biochar, and different ratios of peat:worm casting on tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) growth, mycorrhizal dep...
متن کاملIdentification and expression analysis of YABBY family genes associated with fruit shape in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.).
YABBY family genes play important roles in the development of leaf, flower, and fruit. The purpose of this research was to integrate all the YABBY genes and analyze the correlation between gene expression and fruit shape in tomato. Scanning of 24 genomes of sequenced species demonstrated that YABBY genes were very normal and stable in flowering plants except the seedless plants. Nine YABBY gene...
متن کاملMolecular Insights Reveal Psy1, SGR, and SlMYB12 Genes are Associated with Diverse Fruit Color Pigments in Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.).
The color of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) fruit flesh is often used as an indicator of quality. Generally, fruit color is determined by the accumulation of carotenoids and flavonoids, along with concomitant degradation of chlorophylls during ripening. Several genes, such as phytoenesynthetase1 (Psy1), STAY-GREEN (SGR), and SlMYB12, have been extensively studied to elucidate the genes controlli...
متن کاملCold tolerance in Osmotin transgenic tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) is associated with modulation in transcript abundance of stress responsive genes
Our containment trials have established cold tolerance in Nicotiana tabacum osmotin (Nt Osm) transgenic tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L. cv. Pusa Ruby). Though, the stress tolerance mechanisms have been studied at physio-biochemical levels, molecular mechanisms underlying the tolerant response are still not well studied. Therefore, quantitative transcript expression of Osmotin and other stress r...
متن کاملMining the surface proteome of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) fruit for proteins associated with cuticle biogenesis
The aerial organs of plants are covered by the cuticle, a polyester matrix of cutin and organic solvent-soluble waxes that is contiguous with the polysaccharide cell wall of the epidermis. The cuticle is an important surface barrier between a plant and its environment, providing protection against desiccation, disease, and pests. However, many aspects of the mechanisms of cuticle biosynthesis, ...
